Rain or Shine Doulas
You may be feeling like if the thunder doesn’t get you, the lightning will...
Breathe, because that just isn’t so. You don’t have to feel unprepared or unsupported, and your family doesn’t have to make this start alone. Remember, an expertly trained, educated, compassionate doula will be with you, in your home, to calm the storm, and brighten your horizon. Whether you seek reassurance, and partnership during a short day shift, or you are yearning for a full 8 hours of sleep at night, all of it is possible.
Rain or Shine Postpartum Doula visits are tailored to the individual needs of your family. You also have the ability to schedule your Doula for times that will work best for you. During this time much can be accomplished; a restoration of self-confidence, conquering the burden of household tasks, nutritious meals healthfully prepared, your baby securely swaddled and sleeping, and your selfcare critically achieved.
Postpartum Visits
The offerings are outlined below include sample times of day and durations. OF COURSE you can customize this, but if we do not give you a starting point, are you even going to know where to begin?
Sunrise (6am to 10am)- 4 hours
Quietly sip your coffee and snuggle your newborn while your Doula prepares breakfast, packs school lunches, and starts laundry. If your newborn has been awake all night, perhaps an early morning nap is needed for you to have some solid sleep and then a shower before starting your day.
Daylight (10am to 2pm)- 4 hours
Anything and everything goes with daytime postpartum visits (and the rest too!). The beauty of postpartum visits is that no two are the same.
Sunset (6pm to 10pm)- 4 hours
Sometimes referred to as the ‘witching hours', crankiness and the emotions of the day sometimes get the best of us after everything settles down and it's time to get ready for bed. Balancing all the responsibilities of the family at this time plus respecting bed and bath times for other children and your baby may call for an extra reassuring hand.
Twilight (10pm to 6am)- 8 hours
A newborn “sleeps through the night” usually equals no more than 6 hours which is not the same as a grown-up. The benefit of a Twilight visit is you can shift the mental work of overnight baby care to your Doula. Listening to every squirm and squeak to see if your baby is stirring (they make a lot of noise!), determining if diapers need changing, handling that in the dark while staying as quiet as possible. Your Doula will take your baby to you for feeds or handle the feeds themselves with a bottle and you can rest assured everything is taken care of.
Our Support Rate
